About Us
The members of the New Orleans Unit actively participate in and support the programs of the Unit and the projects of The Herb Society of America, Inc. Projects include exhibits at the Spring Garden Show and Fall Garden Festival at the New Orleans Botanical Garden. Proceeds from the Unit’s spring and fall plant sales help support the Walled Herb Garden at Longue Vue House and Gardens, the Salvia Collection and Outdoor Learning Kitchen at the New Orleans Botanical Garden as well as sponsoring educational speakers in the community and school garden projects.
Members participate in meetings, programs and events sponsored by the Unit and receive all benefits of the national organization including The Herbarist, an annual publication of HSA, and discounted entrance fees at participating botanical gardens. Local Unit meetings cover many herbal topics and may include lectures, herb study groups, potlucks, workshops and trips to see garden of interest.
